I need YOUR help... As many of my friends and family members know, I joined the American Parkinson Disease Association in August of 2012. Having a spent a career in the non profit field, I knew a fair amount about running a voluntary health agency, but not much about Parkinson's disease. I needed to learn a lot quickly.....the features of the disease, treatments and research, the implications for daily living, care partner issues and navigating the barriers to high quality, life long specialty healthcare. Little did I know however that in the fall of 2014 my younger brother, Bob, would be diagnosed with PD at the age of 51. The declaration, "You have Parkinson's disease" took on a whole new meaning to me, my family and of course my brother.
Bob is considered to have young onset PD - which means he will be managing this disease for a long time. Like many others, he will face many challenges. But also like many others, he is in the prime of his career, working hard to support his family and fighting this chronic condition one day at a time. This is why I am participating in the 2018 Long Island, NY APDA Optimism Walk on Saturday, September 22 . I am writing to you to help support my effort through your personal donation as well as reaching out to your network of friends, family and co-workers to support this cause.
Thank you for visiting my personal Fundraising Page for the APDA Optimism Walk! Please help me reach my goal by making an easy online gift today!
A Few facts about PD:
Every 9 minutes someone is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Funds raised enable the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) to continue providing local education, information and support to those touched by Parkinson disease in our community and fund scientific research into the causes, prevention, treatments and ultimately the cure.
The more funds we raise, the more people we can help!
You can make an online donation by clicking on the 'Support Me' button. Please indicate that your donation is intended to support me as a "Walk Participant". You will automatically receive a confirmation email and I will be notified by email of your support.
Thank you, in advance, for your generosity and for helping me help my brother, Bob, and the close to one million Americans fighting this disease. In addition to your personal support, would you be so kind as to share this page with your friends and family via email or social media asking for their support as well?
With Love and Gratitude, thank you from Bob and Me!
