Support Me

April, the first full month of spring. Optimism shines. Anything is possible.
Even a cure for Parkinson’s.

During April’s Parkinson’s Awareness Month, I’m reaching out to raise the awareness of the benefits of yoga practice for those living with this disease. In addition, together with the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA), I’m reaching out to the possibility of a cure.

Here’s how your yoga practice can reach out and spread the optimism:

• DISPLAY MATERIAL We can provide information about yoga and Parkinson’s along with a list of resources available from the APDA, whose mission is to “Ease the Burden and Find a Cure.”

• HOLD FREE and/or SPECIALIZED CLASSES
o Yoga by Donation ensures access to all despite financial limitations. Yoga for Parkinson’s ensures access to all that yoga despite physical limitations.

• MAKE A DONATION
o Choose a week or a single day in the month of April that your class fees go to the APDA for funding research toward a cure.
o Team up with other teachers or fellow students in your area and select a Yoga Day, pooling donations.
o Make your own, personal contribution.

To keep it simple (so you can focus on the yoga!), simply click on the Support Me button.

B. K. S. Iyengar says, “Yoga teaches us to cure what cannot be endured and endure what cannot be cured.” Let’s allow the power of yoga to move Parkinson’s into the first of his categories.

NAMASTE.
