Parkinson’s disease….My mother has it and in the last year, it has REALLY taken ahold of her along with losing her husband.
For my mom, it started out about 5 years ago, when she couldn’t hand write. In the past 5 years, she has seen 8 different specialists, partakes 3x a week in a Parkinson’s exercise class, has changed medication more times that we can count and is currently on 2 medications and 6 supplements. She’s a fighter! But it’s killing her inside.
She goes to the grocery store, and her legs freeze. Her toes curl under ... and... she .... can’t... MOVE. She’s frozen. People stare. They sigh if they are behind her in line. And they really groan if she’s trying to sign a check that the bank sometimes returns because they can’t read her signature. But you try telling her not to sign it...She’s got her pride.
She needs help getting everywhere, doing everything, and managing daily activities that you wouldn’t even think of, such as getting dressed, pouring milk, and literally turning around.
And that’s why we need your help please. On Sunday April 29th my mom, my sister and I are all walking for the 2nd year in the Annual Parkinson’s Beach Brigade. It raises CRITICAL money to help FIND A CURE for this debilitating disease so that people can get their life back. Safely. And live with dignity.
It may be a cliché, but every dollar helps. Please donate any amount that you can. Every single person affected with this frustrating disease in the world thanks you. And I do too!
